Overview:
Course Goal - To teach the basic knowledge & skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.  This is an eight-hour course focusing on revolvers and semi-automatic pistols intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.  The class takes place in a traditional classroom setting and live fire on an indoor range. This class is an approved Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course, which is a prerequisite for a Massachusetts License To Carry a Firearm or Firearms Identification Card. We also provide qualification for RI LTC applicants.

Topics:
Safe gun handling, parts of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol & how they operate, cartridge components, common malfunctions, dominant eye identification, the two-handed grip, five fundamentals of pistol shooting, bench rest & standing positions and MA gun law.

Students should plan to bring the following to this course:

• Payment - Check, Money Order or Cash. Make check or money order payable to: Franklin Rod & Gun Club, Inc.
• Note taking material
• A positive attitude
