Overview:
Course Goal - To teach the basic knowledge & skills and explain the attitude necessary for safe handling and storage of guns in the home. This is an 8-hour course focusing on revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns, and rifles intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. Students will receive the NRA's "Home Firearm Safety" handbook and lessons in handling guns safely, identifying and loading / unloading different firearms. Students will also conduct practical exercises in safe gun handling, review various types of ammunition and how to maintain and store firearms. At the end of class students will take a written test and will shoot a handgun on the club’s indoor range. After successful completion of this course, students will receive an NRA Home Firearms Safety Certificate and the Mass State Police Basic Firearm Safety (BFS) Certificate. This course will qualify applicants for Massachusetts firearms licenses (LTC and FID card). We also provide qualification for RI LTC applicants.
