NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home
Cost: $200
Duration: Ten Hours

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the NRA Personal Protection in the Home course.
Overview:
Course Goal - To develop in students the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed handgun for self-defense outside the home. Successfully completing the NRA’s Personal Protection in the Home course is a prerequisite to this class. This course focuses on ethical responsibility, avoiding confrontations outside the home, responding to an attack outside the home, techniques for controlling and responding to a violent encounter outside the home, emotional & legal aftermath of a shooting, firearms & the law, modes of carry & concealment, presenting a firearm (one hand & two hand draw), moving & shooting. The class takes place in a traditional classroom setting and range environment where students can expect to shoot 100 rounds. After successful completion, students will receive an NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home Certificate.
Topics:
Using a firearm responsibly and ethically for personal protection, safe firearms storage outside the home, four levels of awareness, avoiding confrontations outside the home, responding to an attack outside the home & controlling the encounter, what to do once an attacker is down, emotional & legal aftermath of a defensive shooting, firearms and the law, modes of carry, concealment & types of holsters, presenting a firearm (one hand & two hand draw), scanning & assessing for threats, moving & shooting from different positions, speed reloads, common stoppages & immediate action drills and defensive accuracy.

- Payment - Check, Money Order or Cash. Make check or money order payable to: Franklin Rod & Gun Club, Inc.
- A valid LTC
- Handgun, 200 rounds of ammunition (no hollow point, wadcutter or semi-wadcutter bullets) and a hip holster
- One extra magazine / speedloader and holding device
- Eye and Ear protection
- Note taking material
- A positive attitude
